WagMore!, LLC Grooming Policies
CANCELLATIONS
Please call at least 24 hours prior to your appointment to cancel or reschedule.
We take great pride in that we never rush our dogs through the grooming process. We never over-book our groomers to “just get one more through the door”. Because of this, it is very important that we maintain our schedule so we can continue to offer attentive, individualized care in a calm, stress-free environment. Your pet’s spa appointment is a reservation for services and for the individualized attention we provide each dog. We only take a limited number of appointments each day. A missed appointment is a loss of income to a small business and our groomers.
NO SHOWS
If you miss your appointment without a 24 hour notification, there will be a “No Show” fee equal to 75% of booked services and 1/2 down may be required to book your next appointment.
LATE ARRIVALS
If you are late for your appointment, we will complete your dog’s grooming services as best as we can in the remaining amount of your allotted time.
LATE PICK-UPS
You will be given an approximate time for pick-up when you drop your dog off. We will also notify you by text or phone call when your pet is ready. We have minimal space in our grooming parlor to keep your dog for extended periods of time after their services are completed. For this reason, we ask that you pick up within a half hour of notification that your pet is ready. If you do not arrive within 30 minutes of your notification, you will be charged for the current rate for individual daycare.
If you do not pick up your dog by the time our salon closes, your pet will be transported to the Hound Around Hotel boarding facility where it will receive proper care until you can pick them up the next morning between 8-10am. At that time, you will be responsible for incurred daycare charges from WagMore! LLC, as well as shuttle service fee of $15 and boarding charges for that night and each day thereafter, payable to the Hound Around Hotel.
DE-MATTING
We will perform a hands on evaluation of your dog at drop-off. By doing this, we can determine the condition of the coat and give you realistic expectations on what can be done and give you some options. If you dog is matted and you do not want to shave your dog short enough to go under the mats, there will be a de-matting fee as follows: $1/minute for a maximum of 30 minutes. If the time allotted for de-matting your dog does not allow for completion of mat removal, multiple appointments will be required to complete the dog. Owner will be responsible for paying for all appointments needed to complete the dog. Pelted coats will NOT be de-matted. Dog’s with matting over more than 30% of it’s body will not be de-matted. Our job and responsibility as your dog’s groomer is to treat your dog with respect and kindness. De-matting can be a painful process and some dogs will tolerate it better than others. Humanity will always come before vanity.
Severe matting can lead to bruising and other health problems that may arise after the mats are removed, such as bruising and hematomas (commonly on ears from “shaking off the new feeling"). You may also notice your dogs itching a lot after being shaved. The best way to describe why this happens is to imagine if your hair was pulled into a tight pony tail for several weeks and you finally take it out - you itch and rub your head a lot because it feels amazing to finally have that relief!
We are not responsible for any health conditions related to the removal of mats on your dog.
FLEAS
We will check for possible infestations on our hands-on evaluations at check-in, however, many times fleas can not be seen until we get your dog wet. If fleas are found on our dog, they will be given a flea bath, as well as a CAPSTAR to kill all living fleas present on the animals, for an additional fee of $25. The CAPSTAR only kills the fleas currently living on the dog, but does not inhibit the larvae from maturing. Your dog and home will need to be thoroughly treated to prevent re-infestation.
VACCINATIONS
We do not currently require proof of vaccinations on dogs over 1 year of age. All dogs/puppies under a year of age will be required to show proof of vaccinations. There are many differing views and opinions on how often dogs should be vaccinated, even among veterinarians. Therefore, as long as you and your vet are comfortable with your dog’s level of protection, so are we. However, it should be taken into consideration that if your dog bites a groomer and that groomer requires medical attention due to the bite, proof of current rabies vaccination will be required to be shown by authorities. If your dog is not up to date on their rabies vaccination, your dog will be required to be quarantined for 10 days under supervision of an animal professional.
BEHAVIOR
A large portion of our job as your dog’s groomer relies on your dog cooperating for the grooming process. We do our very best to make it a comfortable and positive experience for your beloved pet and will “work around” your dog as much as we can. However, if at any point during the groom we feel that your dog’s well-being, or the safety of our groomers is at risk, we may choose to not complete the groom.
There is an additional charge for handling aggressive or extremely nervous dogs, as most times it takes multiple groomers to safely handle dogs like this. In the instance that a full groom can not be completed, you will still be required to pay for the services that have been completed.
If you have a dog that is aggressive or overly nervous during the grooming process, we are happy to consult with you to develop a game plan to get your dog more comfortable with the process. Often times, frequent quick visits are needed to change a dog’s mindset of the grooming process. We are happy to help in any way that we can to help your dog learn that we are kind and trustworthy friends (with a lot of great treats!).
